Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about learning Chinese with MOON Academy — how classes work, how HSK preparation is structured, what lessons cost, and how to enrol. If your question is not here, our team is a message away.

Can I join HSK classes online from Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Kenya?

Yes. Our HSK preparation classes run online, so students across the Gulf, wider Middle East and Africa can join from anywhere. Lessons are live with a teacher, not pre-recorded.

Are classes in English or Arabic?

Classes are taught in Mandarin with English used for explanation and support. Our team also speaks Arabic and can help with enrollment and questions.

How do online lessons work across time zones?

Online lessons are scheduled to suit your time zone. We agree a weekly slot with you before classes begin, and lessons are delivered through ClassIN.

I have never studied Mandarin before. Can I still join?

Absolutely. Our beginner courses are designed for students with no prior knowledge of Mandarin, starting from the very basics.

Do you offer courses for children?

Yes. We run age-appropriate Mandarin programs for children, using interactive methods suited to different age groups and learning stages.

How do I register for a course?

Register through the enrollment form on this website, or contact us by phone, email or WhatsApp. Our team will guide you through the next steps.

How long is each lesson, and how many lessons a week?

Every lesson is 45 minutes. The number of sessions per week is agreed with you based on your goal and pace — most learners take one to three 45-minute sessions per week, and intensive HSK preparation can run more.

Do you teach one-to-one, or in groups?

Both. Private one-to-one lessons give you the fastest, most personalised progress; small group classes are more economical and are common for kids, families and corporate teams. Group Mandarin classes run with a minimum group size, which our team confirms when you enquire.

Where do lessons take place — online, at the academy, or at home?

You choose the delivery format. Online classes are live with a teacher over ClassIN. In-person options are lessons at an agreed location in Abu Dhabi, or a home tutor who comes to you. The same curriculum is taught in every format.

How is the price worked out?

Pricing is based on the total number of 45-minute sessions in your course, the delivery format you choose, and any group discount. Our Principal Teacher agrees the full plan and the price with you before anything is confirmed — there are no hidden fees, and prices shown to you are VAT-inclusive.

What are the HSK levels, and which one should I start at?

HSK is the official Chinese proficiency scale, from HSK 1 (absolute beginner) through HSK 6 (advanced). If you are new to Mandarin you start at HSK 1; if you have studied before, our Principal Teacher will place you at the right level after a short conversation so you neither repeat material nor start out of your depth.

What actually happens in a first lesson?

A first lesson sets your foundation: for a beginner that means the sounds and tones of Mandarin, pinyin (the pronunciation system), and your first practical phrases. For a continuing learner it confirms your level and sets the plan for the sessions ahead. You leave the first lesson able to say and understand something you could not before.

Do you offer a free trial class?

We do not run free trial classes. Instead, our Principal Teacher speaks with you first to understand your goal, agree your level and pace, and arrange the right course — so your very first paid lesson is already tailored to you.

Can companies arrange Mandarin training for their teams?

Yes. We run corporate and business Chinese training for teams, scheduled around the working day and delivered online or on site. Content is built around your team’s real communication needs rather than a generic syllabus.

Still have a question?

Our team is happy to help you choose the right Chinese course, whether you are learning for work, study, travel or your children.
